The Art Of Glass Blowing
Glassblowing is an artform and a craft that involves using a technique for shaping molten glass by inflating it with long metal tube known as a blowpipe so that it forms into a bubble or “parison” that can be shaped into handcrafted artifacts or products. Molten glass is in texture viscous enough to be formed through the process of inflation and gradually hardens as it cools down. An alternate glassblowing method is mold-blowing which is a process that came after free-blowing. In this process hot blob of liquid melted glass is attached to the end of blowpipe and is blown or inflated inside a mold constructed of wood or metal. The shape the finished product is then determined by the shape of the interior of the actual mold rather than by the handiwork of the glass blower. More info: glass blowing sacramento
